MERIDIAN

in the heart of the foot
just under where the bones
congregate into the valley of the mid-foot
there lies a pyramid-like collection of bones
that form the arches of the foot
the three cuneiforms
the navicular
the cuboid

if you walk into this

landscape and press against the skin of its
dents and depressions

there is a tenderness that runs like a river up through the meridian line where in the

bean-shaped recesses of the kidneys with their

convex and concave
borders
the waters are purified

this region of the foot is known as the bubbling spring
it is the place where flesh lands on earth
and is said to be
where
love
acts
on
the
soul
